I've actually never went to a voting booth I have always voted by mail. I used to move so much within the state as well as living abroad that I've always used my parents' address as my permanent one instead of having to constantly re-registering to vote.

This is why I want to live a long life. I want to live to be a tiny, distinguished old lady and work as a pollworker for every election and talk shit and drink coffee all day with my decrepit pollworker friends. I love the really careful way the workers at the polls check my driver's license against the roll to make sure I'm really supposed to be there voting. Then they peel off my "I voted" sticker at the end and give it to me like it's precious. It will probably all be computerized by the time I retire. Sigh.

I miss the big voting booth with all the levers and the curtain that opened and closed for privacy. Marking my ballot with a 'special' marker just isn't the same. And I'll be right there next to you, cornerhouse! I love the poll workers : )
