well......... victorinox swiss army evidently hates labels: their watches are extra small to extra large, with nary a gender ID to be found ;P

extra small and large being relative It is about the size of a mans watch. Their "Mens" watches are clownlike huge.

recipe: the chicken is added last, so for a veg version simply omit the chicken or use a substitute. Everything else is vegan! Ingredients: x large red onion x large yellow onion x whole bulbs of garlic (not little cloves, whole bulbs) x moderate hunk of ginger x carrots x stalks celery x sweet peppers (I usedred,yellow,orange) x bunch green onions x - x cups water x - x cups shell pasta x-x diced chicken breasts main spices (necessary): lots of Italian seasoning extra oregano & parsley black pepper salt to taste x cubes McCormick all vegetable bouillon (I used chicken flavour) x/x - x/x cup soy sauce (I use kikkomans) hot sauce - x or so dashes complementary spices (to taste, or omit): cumin chili powder vegeta vegetable seasoning Instructions: Roughly chop all larger veggies. Crush garlic & grate ginger. Saute onions & garlic in your favourite large pot until clear. Add most of the spices (wait until broth is cooking before doing your final seasoning.) Add carrots & celery, cook a bit longer. Add sweet peppers cook another x minutes. Add water, ginger & green onions, bullion and boil for a few minutes before adding soy sauce & hot sauce. Adjust spices to taste before adding chicken & pasta. Cook another x minutes (ensure chicken is well cooked) and enjoy! Onions, garlic & ginger are great for coughs & colds. Sweet peppers are chock full of vitamins. Carrots adds what the peppers don't have. It's a hearty, savoury-sweet soup that is relatively is easy to prepare, ready in under an hour and rumoured to cure leprosy. Enjoy!

everything is approximate I think I may have actually used more water & spices that I wrote down... Anyway soup is pretty much a play by ear art form. MY soup is actually spoon fulls of goodness with broth filling in the spaces. The whole thing could probably be doubled in size with more broth... but that might dilute it's ability to regrow limbs.

I really enjoy creating soup.... it offers the most flexibility in using your imagination and taste. A couple of weeks ago I made a butternut squash soup that I would normanlly add cream or sour cream to, but instead added coconut milk and it was SUBLIME. This is the perfect time of year for soup.

oooo yum! what else did you spice it with? cinnamon & nutmeg? did you add anything else or was it straight up squash?

recipe: x roasted butternut squash (roast with olive oil and kosher salt) Sautee an onion, grated ginger, garlic chicken or veg broth about x quart add the peeled squash and boil for about x minutes add cumin, cinnamon and nutmeg if you like boil another x minutes blend with hand blender and add coconut milk. serve with cilantro leaves and a sqeeze of lime.

ah - cumin! of course! I will leave out the cilantro however. Yay for soup!
