Anyone into wax??? I read somewhere on here not to use colored or scented wax for wax play and was wanting someone to tell me why? I am planning on playing with some this weekend with my hubby and I kinda wanted to get scented at least but if there is a good reason not to...then I guess I wont...help! ;)

supposedly because it burns hotter i have not found that to be true. however parafin versus beeswax candles are fun to experiment with.

which makes it burn hotter? The color or the scent? Also which do you prefer out of the parafin or beeswax?

i found the parafin to be hotter so that is my preference. and neither scent nor color seemed to affect the heat.

soy candles I hear soy candles are best as they don't get as hot as a traditional candle-unless thats what you want not sure about scented...

they are not hot at all... and dont really solidify... so they are great for massage but not much else in my (admittedly pain slut) opinion.

would like it to get kinda solid...want to take pix and thats kinda why I wanted to do color to...

i don't think color makes it hotter... try beeswax colored candles.

any ideas on where to buy these? Healthfood stores? Prob not at wal mart right?

try an herbary shop we have a few in my town where they sell herbs and things to make potions or tinketures out of

walmart is great!!! their selection of religious candles has an assortment of colors you can try. And if you hold them up higher the wax cools a bit before landing on the skin thus resulting in less owie.

Not hot enough at all....

It burns hotter tham the non scented and uncolored kind. The best are the religious candles in the glass things at the grocery store..cheap, not too hot..etc. Hubby and I use scented and colored candles, but we play with paraffin wax beforehand..he'll "paint" it on my body with a brush and then drip the colored/scented candles on. So, you could apply a couple layers of the uncolored unscented wax first.

they sell parifin wax my mom & sister are both beautitions They wax is used in salons to lock in moisture in feet, hands or any part of the body really. I have had salon treatments with it and you can keep it at any temperture you like provided that you have kind of a crock pot warmer. I would also suggest using some thing like a ladel to keep bacteria low because (and again depending on temperature) it won't get hot enough to kill it if you are dipping things in it (use your imagination). Keep it sanitary and what ever you don't use the first time you can save for the second and third times!! :) Don't forget to let us know what you choose and how it worked out for you!! have fun!

it also does harden but not like a traditional candle, so pour slowly...

be careful all waxes have flash points where they could burst into flame. Make sure you know what it is before trying the crock pot approach, although the flash point is well above whatwould use to drip on skin.

You could get some massage candles... you know, the kind that turn to massage oily wax rather than waxy wax. They smell good, are pleasantly warm (though, if you're looking for pain, they aren't hot enough) and it'd be awesome to get waxed AND massaged....
