Yeah, we've done camping together, this group. But now we are planning a week between Christmas and New Year. I am Nervous.

No, it's going to be a cabin/lodge type place somewhere in the wilds of Colorado. I can see it disintegrating rapidly. We're very cliche in that we're all dated in the past and are now the best of friends.

Beaver Fever?

I just ordered t-shirts. They say Cabin Fever on the front and there is a picture of a skiing beaver! The beaver is airbrushed on, don't worry. These will definitely match our sandblasted black jeans.

Location? I'm really familiar with a lot of places in Colorado. Is it the type of cabin that is in the middle of nowhere, or is it near or in a town? If you have places to go then you might not spend a lot of time in the cabin itself. That could make a big difference. Most cabins are within walking distance or a short drive from some sort of civilization. Let me know if you want me to research where you're staying or if you need more information about the location.

Sounds good, then If she used to live there and you all aren't going for hunting or fishing then my guess is that you'll be in or near a town. As long as you're not stuck in the cabin then you'll be spending time in a car or shopping or doing the usual touristy stuff. You should know that if you're in the mountains that it'll be coldish and snowy. We've had a very early winter already and I spent last weekend in a foot tofeet of snow (I was about an hour north of Steamboat Springs on the Wyoming border). It's good to hear that your friend lived where you're going -- she'll know what to expect and you won't end up stranded somewhere, unprepared. A "cabin" can mean something that sells for half a million dollars in Vail or something that should be condemned that is an hour from civilization. I'd find out more about where you're staying, check the weather and find out what altitudes you'll be hanging out in. Then you can get a better idea about what your vacation will be like. Either way, it's a gorgeous time of year here!

Wow. Good help. We are in the woods, in the mountains. Half hour from skiing which doesn't actually interest me. I've seen pictures of the place, and it's huge! You're right; I wouldn't it a cabin. You'll have a blast! It sounds like you'll be in civilization, so you won't get antsy and get on each other's nerves. I'd bring clothes so you can get out and walk around. It probably won't be cold enough to freeze so that means there will be mud on the ground. Bring some boots that can get really muddy and keep your feet warm. I don't ski either. It's expensive and cold and involves a lot of waiting around. Hanging out at the lodge and drinking warm things on the patio and watching skiers is an awesome time, though. Most of the bigger ski areas will have really good shopping. The towns usually have the touristy stuff (t-shirt shops, big cookies, etc.) but they also have expensive boutiques, art galleries and other places where the wealthy spend their money while they visit their winter ski cabin. It's a good time even if you can't afford any of it (like me). There are usually awesome bars and a couple good clubs, but the places aren't usually big enough to support any gay-centric places. They're usually fairly liberal and gay friendly, though. Let me know if you want to know about a specific town. I love the mountains and I visit a lot (pretty much every weekend). It really does look like this in the fall: The aspen trees' leaves turn from green to yellow for a few short weeks, and it's happening now. The mountain tops all have a bit of snow on them even though most of the towns are bare. It's not too cold, either -- in the xs and xs with no humidity. This is the prettiest time to be in Colorado. I should work for tourism...
