I hated in the first hour but to be fair, part of that hour was in orientation, so I had a late start.

eh. it's slowly sinking. SLOWLY. as in i can prolly ride it thru the next three years of school. which i aim to do. (but i am paid decently and live w/in walking distance.....if i had to bus/bart or if i still worked on the sales end, i'd quit in a heartbeat)

i can't be bothered to go to the right place in this thread -- you might try getting on in the admin pool at a university or hospital, or state organization. it has the benefits of temping in that you generally sign on job by job to begin with, so if the dept sucks you can gracefully get out at the end of your assignment, but it's more permanent-employment oriented in that if you don't suck it doesn't take long to get a permanent placement. decent wages, good benefits, usually. and if you pick the right university, you can slowly slowly earn an advanced degree at a discount.
