Hang in there and remember it's never too late. Perhaps you need some space from your family, while as they can be wonderful, but a bit smothering. Sometimes, no matter how hard, you need to live life for yourself and pursue what you really want. I know it's hard, but trust me, it is so worth it! You are in my thoughts, I wish you the best. What does that even mean? How can your family forbid you from being lesbian? You either are or you aren't. Its not as though they have any input, y'know? The thing is, therapy, or some sort of professional intervention is being suggested so that you can learn how to stand up to your family and live whatever life it is that you want.

Hey, I speak from experience. I know it's not easy, but find you a great support system of friends and figure out what you need to do to move on with your life and live for yourself and your happiness. Also, I totally agree with IWT, a good counselor is worth more than their weight in gold!! You can do this, believe in yourself, you might just be surprised how it gets easier. I know it could be scary right now. Find a good support system, that was key for me.

Agree, and also remember that family is not limited to the you were born with. We all create our own family, based on love, as we go through life. IU was luckier with my given family, but have also been lucky enough to forge a larger extended family of friends throughout my life. I think our culture is too fixed on the families that raised us - there is so much more family to be found out there! Good luck, really. You will find community and love elsewhere, and maybe your birth family will come around. Stranger things have happened.

And when that happens, everything that everyone else does somehow lands on you. But remember this: It isn't you, it's them. Stay true to you. It's hard sometimes, but you can do this.
